Baseball Season Is Under Way

Spring is here... and that means baseball!! Zach started his baseball season the weekend after Easter by playing Spring Baseball. He had a double-header every Sunday afternoon, playing other area schools. Zach did really well playing many different positions, such as 1st base, 3rd base, shortstop, and right field. He even got a home run during one of the games! Luckily, it was the one game his grandma (my mom!) got to see!!!

Now, he has just wrapped up baseball try-outs and found out he made the JV team! Good job, Zach!! I just hope he gets to play... during try-outs, he was noticing some "soreness" in his elbow and his coach recommends getting an x-ray... hopefully it is nothing serious. We will find out soon, as he has an appointment next week.

Brianna has decided she does not want to play softball this season... not sure of her reasoning behind this, but we were talking about signing her up for fast-pitch instead of slow-pitch this year... not sure if that scared her off. We will let her choose which one she wants next season!

R.I.P. Calvin Brown

We received the call from CJ's sister Easter morning... saying that his cousin, Calvin, had just passed away of an apparent heart attack at 46 years old... such sad news...

Calvin was a great guy -- he always had a kind word for everyone he met, and was always willing to help you if you needed it. Calvin, we will miss you A LOT... but we will never forget you!!

Easter 2010

Since I had to work the Saturday before Easter, we decided not to go anywhere for Easter Sunday. Instead, Mom came to SC and Matt and Jenny decided to have Easter dinner over at their house and have everyone over. Derek was not able to attend since he was clear over in Ames, but he was missed!! (Love you, Derek... we will see you soon!!)

Dinner was great and then Matt and CJ took all the kids outside to play baseball since it was such a gorgeous day! When Mom decided to head back to LZ, we also decided to head home since we had noticed that Zach's car had a flat tire that morning. Hopefully there is somewhere to get it fixed on an Easter Sunday???!!

A Shower for Baby Avery!

Mom and I had a baby shower for my niece, Avery, at mom's house! We invited family and friends to come and meet the new baby!! What a great turn-out! (and a packed house!) It was a really great time to see everyone and catch up on each other's lives... and who could forget all the awesome presents that Avery received?!! Thanks, everyone!!

EHS Basketball Team goes to State!

Just a quick "shout out" to the Varsity EHS basketball team!! Great job at State! They came home with 4th place!! Their toughest game was against Ames... (they have Harrison Barnes, who is ranked #1 in the country!) Everyone played their best and should be very proud of themselves!! The Varsity team has really paved the way and set the standards for the upcoming EHS varsity players -- what a great bunch of guys!! Thanks for the great year!!

I'm Back... We'll See How Long!!

I know it has been a while since I last posted on here... I apologize to any family and friends who look here for our "updates"!! It has been a busy few months with my sister having a baby, the kids finishing up their basketball seasons, and work has been busy, also!! I have been working most of my days off and weekends, too! I will do my best to try to post anything you might have missed while I've been away! Bear with me!!
